WHO PH's Walk the Talk Manila: The Health for All Challenge


World Health Organization (WHO) Philippines will stage the first non-competitive and inclusive event entitled “Walk the Talk Manila: The Health for All Challenge” as part of the organization’s mission to promote the right to health of every Filipino. The event ill be held on September 15, 2019, 7:00 AM at Pacific Rim, Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Walk the Talk Manila will highlight UHC while promoting a healthy lifestyle, a week before the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and the High-Level Meeting (HLM) on UHC in New York.

The event is open to all ages and is free-of-charge. There will be running, walking, and non-motorized wheels (e.g., wheelchairing) in different distances (3K, 5K, 10K), as well as biking (10K).

The Universal Health Care (UHC) Act or Republic Act No. 11223 was signed into law on 20 February 2019. The landmark measure summarizes the political commitment of the Philippine government to provide health for all Filipinos. The law automatically enrolls all Filipino citizens in the National Health Insurance Program and prescribes complementary reforms in the health system.
