Summit Natural Drinking Water Is Athletes’ Number One Supporter

The country’s pride in boxing, judo, and taekwondo are preparing themselves physically and mentally to achieve their goal of bringing gold medals to the Philippines.

Judo contenders Jenielou Mosqueda, Helen Dawa, Gilbert Ramirez, Bryan Quillotes, Lloyd Dennis Catipon, and Nancy Quilottes are dedicated to being the best they can be just in time for the pre-SEA Games Test matches beginning October 17 in Myanmar. The contenders, who hail from Zamboanga, Leyte, and Davao, respectively, are now just focusing on the mental preparations of the matches after months of rigorous training. Says Gilbert, “Ngayon light na lang ang training, mas nagprepare kami mentally through Sports Psychology classes. (Training is lighter now, and we are now preparing mentally through Sports Psychology classes.)”

Taekwondo athlete, 26-year-old Gershon Bautista, who bagged the gold medal in the Korean Open, wishes to repeat the same feat in the Sea Games this December. Bautista is preparing for the challenge through intense training sessions both in the morning and in the afternoon. He says that part of the preparation is learning from past mistakes and making sure he doesn’t repeat them.

The country’s representatives in boxing understand the pressure put on them by a nation known for producing the world’s best fighters; however, they take it all in stride. Says Arjay Alabado, “Mas mahirap kung ipressure mo yung sarili mo. Samin basta mag enjoy ka lang at pagbutihin sa training, mas okay yun (It’s harder when you put pressure on yourself. It’s better when you enjoy training and just give it your all),”Other boxers completing the lineup include Wilfredo Lopez, Riza Pasuit, Nathaniel Montelato, Darwin Tindahan, Margie Waga, Marichris Igam, Irish Magno, Gerson Nietes, and Leopoldo Cantancio.

For these athletes who come from all over the country, what inspires them is the pride a medal would bring to the country. Judo fighter Helen Dawa says that what gets her through the difficult days in between winning and losing is the will to win for the Philippines, “Para talaga sa bayan, doon naming kinukuha ang inspirasyon para manalo (Everything is for the country, this is where we get our inspiration to reach for the gold).”

Supporting the athletes all the way is Summit Natural Drinking Water. Summit Natural Drinking Water has long helped aspiring Filipino athletes to maintain superior concentration and athletic edge with minerals that boost the hydration level. Brand manager for Summit Angeline Ong is happy to support the athletes, “Summit has always believed in the talent of Filipino athletes, and we are especially hopeful for this year’s games. Win or lose, what matters is that they aspired and perspired to be where they are now, and that they inspire us all to reach for greater heights.”

The athletes in turn are grateful to receive the support from Summit, “It helps that they believe in us and are willing to support us in our quest to win big for the Philippines.”
